Where can I learn music production using voice over on Mac? (self.Blind)
submitted by Blind-ninja03
Good day everyone, I am a completely blind musician, and I was just hoping to ask where can I learn how to use voice over to produce music in my MAC’s DAW, are there any sites? groups? video tutorials or email list?
I got into music production 2 years ago but I only used my Iphones Garage band, and now I’ve switched to using a MAC book, and I was hoping to learn more about music production using it.I am using Garage band on my MAC right now, and I don’t have a MIDI controller yet.
I did find one video on how to use voice over with Garage band on YouTube, but unfortunately the version of GB they were using was an older one.
Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

I second www.logic.band it’s excellent and Steve who runs it is a great guy. He offers one to one sessions as well.

Also going to link to my own youtube.
$1
I’m also happy to do some one to one stuff if you’re looking at using Logic. Feel free to message if I can help with anything at all.

No problem :) give me a PM if you’d like anything else. There’s also a whatsapp group for blind producers who use Logic. As well as one for Reaper and Pro Tools. So let me know if you’d like to get linked up with any of them.

I learned on the website $1. It's meant for Logic users, but a lot of it can be applied to Garageband as well. I use a Komplete Kontrol keyboard from Native Instruments for accessible MIDI control and sound browsing. Also, I stream my music production on Twitch and go over a lot of the process. I can PM you the link if you're interested.

Thank you very much for this, I was planning to use Logic pro and get a Komplete Kontrol next, so this works out.
And I’ll definitely check out your twitch vids on how to do music production using accessibility. 😎❤️

Not sure if there is anything like that specific to the blind community. A lot of people seem to need help using garage band so it may be worth getting something like that together.

But for now learn how to work the programs accessibly and then learn the music production and other skills along with people who are not blind. So do those aspects separately maybe?

Thank you very much, I’ll definitely do that 😎❤️

No problem I saw an audio music person on here who said he wanted to do this on a podcast let’s see if I can find his thread.

I found it.

I actually know a decent amount about music production while blind.

So it just depends on what DaW you're using. There are also accessible MIDI controllers like Komplete Kontrol and the soon to be accessible Maschine MK 3.

Here's a YouTube channel that focuses on Logic Pro X accessibility using VoiceOver: $1

You can ask me if you have more specific questions but there's also a bunch of resources if you google around.

I don't really have anything that'll help you find what youre wanting.

Um, I don't know if it's viable or not, but I will throw it out there in case you find it useful in some way:

There's a blind rapper i like that also has a blind producer, sometimes they live stream their song making process - but it's not from a tutorial perspective it's just a fly on the wall as they get on and do their work.

I don't know the probability of the producer J Breezy being in the studio at the same time as when the live calls are being taken but it is possible to call in and talk to the rapper every week and i've seen on one occasion where that particular producer was there too answering questions.

Maybe there's some hope for reaching out to them to get advice.

The rapper is live at the moment. Seems occasionally words from chat are being read out by his staff.
