Looking for some sort of distance alarm (self.Blind)
submitted by Wolfocorn20
Hey all.
I have a question that might sound a bit weard and i hope i don't insult or upset anyone with it.

In a few months i'm going on a trip with 2 friends one of them is visualy impaired the other is verry slightly visually impaird and i myself am legally blind.
The slightly visually impaird person let's call him Tim often seems to forget that he's on the road with 2 cane users of witch only one can actually use the sight they have left and no metter how menny times we adress the ishu he seems to forget it after 10 minuts.
It gives me and my other friend a lot of stress sins we'll be going somewhere we've never bean before. So now my question.
Does anyone here knows of a device or app that gives some sort of notification when the other person is out of a sertan range?
For example if Tim walks ahead and he leaves me behind he gets a notification of som sorts that i'm more than say 15 m away from him and that he has to stop so that i can catch up or that he has to return to pick me up or something.

Thanks for reading and replying.

You’ll likely find it marketed to children. They were mostly for autistic children but now they’re marketed to worried parents.

There’s Guardian Angle, kiddo kidkeeper, toddler tag, probably lots of them.

There’s also some adult oriented products meant to stop you losing your keys, etc. Like Spotypal. J think air tags support separation alert. I’m seeing conflicting info for Tile.

I think I would start using my cane on “Tim”.

Maybe walk with a tether instead?

Personally I’d rather wear the running belt than worry about anything draining a battery especially when traveling. After awhile Tim should get used to the pace of the slowest member and adjust accordingly.

I don't use it but possibly life360? I know they have location tracking which could give you a notification

I would hang on to him. That’s why I like sight to guide better because some people walk ahead and think I’ll just follow and way ahead. And it’s like where are you wait… what’s going on. Hey I see you are ahead but I am short let me keep up. To avoid this it’s like let me have your arm please. Thanks.
