Can someone give me names of books where there are visual impaired character written at the first person pls ? (self.Blind)
submitted by Mimi-kitten
Hi,

So I would like to write a story (well, it’s a big word, mainly think about a story until my mind cannot remember every part and I must write it down) with a character whose gone completely blind because of a time travel (I know that time travel is an overused trop but hey, the story will be bad in the end, so might as well have fun with it).
The problem is that I do not know how to write a completely blind character (some would say do not know how to write at all), and I only read one book with a blind character at the first person but they were blind since birth. I know there a lot of books with visual impaired characters but I don’t want to learn bad stuff.

Have a nice day

I don’t think there are many. I can only think of one, which I read years and years ago, so I don’t remember the title. Also, everyone was a dinosaur-like alien. All I really remember is that the character didn’t feel blind because even though the story was from his point of view, everything was still described visually.

So I’m not sure that helps very much.

It’s okay, thank you anyway for an answer

Not sure if these will help, but,

Blue Skies by Catherine Anderson.

It's a romance book, the girl is blind.

Here to stay by Catherin Anderson, there's 1 blind boy, not the main characters, depicted as helpless basterd brother. Lol!

Thank you, from where I start everything help

Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It has a VI main character written by a VI author. It’s not exactly what you are looking for, but it was a good read if you like action and romance.

I like both, thank you very much

All I can think of is certain fanfics for blind chara’s. Maybe check someone ebook publishers?

I would be very cautious about reading blind character fanfiction because some people just do not apply a single whiff of a brain cell to writing them. I was reading a real world version of Avatar: The Last Airbender fanfiction yesterday and they literally had Toph brag about not doing math ever, and that the only blind people expected to do math were super geniuses that can do math in their heads.

I will be on guard, thanks for the warning
Edit: Wait so when visual impaired people do maths, they must have a Perkin’s Machine at all time ?
TechnicalPragmatist 2 points 1y ago
Not all of us no. Some people do math via the computer. I do it all old fashion but there are people who do not and use software to do so I think there are challenges for sure.

Thanks

Maybe just asking questions may help and trying to understand how blind people operate and live I think that would help. I wrote someone an extensive reply about this yesterday evening.
Mimi-kitten [OP] 1 points 1y ago
That is a really good idea, thank you
TechnicalPragmatist 2 points 1y ago
A few people already asked and I’ve answered that reply may help you. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

"Girl, missing" i think it's called. A visually impaired teen, named Cheyenne, is accidentally kidnapped when her mom's car is stolen, as she was asleep in the back. Her guide dog isn't with her and she has to try to escape. The car thieves know her father is rich and are trying to get ransom money from her.

In the second book she gets to drive a self-driving car, which is pretty cool.
