Not sure. If possible can you get her some cane training and some assistive technology training in case there isn’t and she does go blind? And it will help her do more now? Help her get training for daily activities too.

How long are you gone for? Ther isn’t anyone else to be there right?
Is there places or people who can train her on independent living skills around the house so she can still have independence?

Where are you? Can I ask? Is it possible to bring your mother along with you for a better standard of life hopefully for her? To a western country. Sorry to hear about your family and their situation. And that makes sense.
Yeah, I got in to some eastern european psychology well we call it typology literature. And there was this one part where they had men and women type portraits of how they should act. It was so backward. The women ones were like they were all just beautiful, subservient, had kids, was a mother and that’s about it, they had some personality but not really. I was thinking. Honestly? Sorry to break it to you, but I think I fit with the male portraits so much better.
All this to say I agree with you and know what you’re talking about.

You mentioned the injections don't help her... do you know which ones? The older injection was Avastin (bevacizumab), but the newer drug is Lucentis (ranibizumab).
If the doctor has discontinued them, there isn't another drug.
Some doctors suggest ocular vitamins, often with lutein and zeaxanthin . Many ocular vitamins have those, as well as other vitamins to assist. Your mother should talk to her doctor to see if the ocular vitamins could be helpful. Many are over the counter.
You mentioned about making things accessible in the house for her... you may want to take a look at these two videos. The person has Stargart's, which is very similar to mac degen (it's older name was juvenile mac degen). Some of it may not be relevant for your mother, but it could give you ideas.

Is there any organisation for the blind in your country? Try ncbi.ie for Irish resources they have lots of video on YouTube, plenty of webinars maybe you can join in on.
Rnib in the UK would also have great online resources
Start now to gather cd books, ping pong/table tennis balls work great to measure liquid level in cups/jugs
Make tea coffee on trays incase of overflows

Could there even be one in a neighbouring country? Some work in unison. Especially charities they can cover a couple of grouped countries.
If you want to pm me with details I'd be happy to try to find out some potential help for you
