Activities for vision impaired pop in hospital (self.Blind)
submitted by floweryfeeb
Hey everyone,
I hope you don’t mind if I ask on here I was just hoping for some ideas or inspiration.

My 84yo grandpa has MND (motor neuron disease) which among other issues, has led him to be almost completely blind. (Rapid decline over the years)

He’s going into hospital this week to get his leg amputated and due to his age and medical condition, they’re predicting he may take weeks to months to recover in hospital.

I really want to try and find activities for him to do in a shared room setting, for when he’s alone outside of visiting hours.

So far all I can think of is putting all his favourite songs onto an old phone with headphones so he can listen to music at least but that’s it so far

If anyone has any suggestions I, and my pop I’m sure, will be extremely thankful.

Thanks :)

Get him an alexa and he can play games and such.

Besides Audiobooks there’s an app called OTR (old time radio) Streamer that plays old radio shows. It’s free and maybe he’d enjoy.

I mean music is enjoyable for s while but I personally prefer audiobooks for a longer time period

Perhaps you could help him find some podcasts he would enjoy.
