Origins of GAAD (self.Blind)

Happy Global accessibility awareness day everyone.
I was feeling curious about what convention or UN resolution created this day, but, to my surprise, it’s none of them.
It’s origins are in a blog post, by a software developer, just tentatively fixing 3rd Thursday of each May as GAAD. I never knew we could just fix a day with putting up a blog. I need to put up a blog ASAP. Lol!
Just joking, looks like he worked on this allot. Don’t think my efforts in to global day of doing nothing would receive any support! ROFL!

Very interesting. Never knew there was such a day. I don’t think it’s widely known or maybe it is?

It's widely known in some circles at least. I've known about it since about 2014.

That’s pretty interesting wish it was more well known in the disability community would be cool if more events and things took place
