Accessible drawing app? (self.Blind)
submitted by nekofluffy
Hi I'm wondering if there is any accessible drawing or image editing app on windows or iOS.
Like reading up all the menu with screen readers at least.
draw with sound would be awesome.
I don't have braille display or pad for those so just digital one .
does anyone know any apps??

The sound idea is pretty interesting indeed.

i have no idea, whatsoever, but was curious about the 'draw with sound' that you mention. how do you mean?

i mean if i put a doton a pixel, it makes some kind of sound that is different from other pixels.
I found one app called brushtone. it is a pixel art drawing app for windows with sound that i mentioned. so i was wondering if there is other similar app exist lately.

thanks for explaining. i started making a pixel art program years ago, and thought maybe adding sound to it might be interesting, sounds like it's already been done though.

did it turn out to be a useful feature?

oh you are making a program too! that is amazing.
yes, definitely interesting and useful feature i think! we can locate which pixel is drew already or even color with sound, so it is possible to do something without sight. I personally liked drawing when I had more sight but it became impossible because I didn't know which pixel I am drawing. Also screen readers can't read menues, layers, canvas size etc, that something has to be done on the apps to go with screen readers.
do I'm looking forward to more apps to come out. yours too, if you are stil working on it!

Windows photos app is accessible with it's menus and all. But, if you try to crop things with keyboard, you won't be able to do it. As far as drawing, even MS Paint app is accessible, but, for just accessing the menus part. Actual drawing thing is still not possible for us keyboard users.

One interesting approach to painting I've seen people doing is using MS Excel's cell fill color feature, to paint entire pictures, accross milians of cells, treating each cell like a pixel or something. You will still need knowledge of how things look visually though, and, this is very slow and complicated painting process from my personal experience when I tried it once. I guess I can automate the damn thing with Auto Hot Key and calculating the curves and slopes of lines with Python, but, I am not at that kind of coding proficiency level yet. And, you will need a decently powerful machine to process that many cells at 1 time. On my college laptop, the damn thing crashed when I told it to make a blue line of cells.

thanks!
I didnt know about Ms stuff got that much accessibility. Ms photo would help me out sometimes. Ms paint accesibility feature seems interesting.
I have no idea if my machine can handle it but definitely gotta check out excel too.
