Any screen reader users familiar with Wordpress? (self.Blind)
submitted by Nighthawk321
I'm having a specific issue where I'm trying to add links to the social icons block, but I can not figure out how to do so. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the self-hosted version of WordPress, or the managed version at WordPress.com? That'll help me to identify which of the 50 bazillion tutorials there are for the thing.

I was using the free stuff, self-hosted thing I suppose. I gave up on it after a while, don't remember propperly. My blog URL had $1 or something like that at the end. Added some theme, used Jetpack or something, on the web thing only, but, got stuck.

Okay, if you were using *.wordpress.com, then... you weren't using self-hosted. That's the managed WordPress, and their documentation is insane. $1 for WordPress.com. Here's their $1. As a blind person, you might find $1 useful. There are others, but I mean that should point you in the right direction.

Thanks, I'll check them out. Although, I must say, I also looked at various guides and tutorials, and the only problem I had was posting a new article to my blog. I was able to publish it, but, the damn thing was not appearing on the homepage of my blog.

Like, let's say, the article: "Using SSH with a screen reader". Now, I would like to have this article title as a heading level 3 or whatever listed up in the article's list when I publish this article. But, after publishing, the article was getting it's own page I suppose, but, it wasn't getting listed on the homepage of the blog.

I'm late to this party, but that sounds like a problem with your homepage setting. Your site might be set to display a static homepage. Without knowing what your site is I'm guessing, but go to Settings and Reading and see what "your homepage displays" is set to.

I know of a person who teaches this stuff they are on this programming server on discord.

man wordpress is a tough thing. I Know HTML, know CSS, but, the damn thing wouldn't let me post a new blog post to the homepage of my blog. Really feel there should be some tutorial or something to work with this.

I agree. I know of a few blind people who say it's really accessible, which I feel it may be, but yeah, a tutorial would go a long way.
