Thanks, Shane

As you already have a windows laptop or desktop, I would recommend using Reaper as your digital audio workstation also known as DAW
By plugging in your audio interface or mixer to the software, this will allow you to mix the audio files directly in the D a W.
Hope this helps in someway. For more information please visit the link below.

I have and use Reaper, and there’s much to like about it, but I would caution anyone about the steep learning curve. The menu items have names that are sometimes quite verbose. That can be a help, but sometimes it’s a hindrance.

I have a friend who studied and taught at Berklee, but I don’t recall off hand what he found most accessible in recent years. A few other musician friends may have some ideas.

I work in the music industry but I don't have much to do with production, I mainly just play. If people are saying reaper then get reaper. What I would say is make sure you get a midi control surface for it. That's not an instrument, that's an actual device with sliders and knobs on it so you can control the track levels and other things with actual physical controls as opposed to a mouse. They come in all shapes and sizes but you can get them fairly cheap especially secondhand. There may be some set up required but it's the only way to mix really. And that goes for everyone, with or without good sight.

Reaper has some addons which turn your whole keyboard into a controler of sorts.

You''ll want to take a look at Reaper, and the Reaper accessibility wiki.

The Scarlet 2I2 is a good starting interface. It has to inputs, and it's sold in a kit. Condencer microphone and headphones.

Hey, check out the Los Angeles Braille Institute online. They have remote classes that anyone can join, I think.
They have a class every semester on music production.
Oh, they're free classes too.

I know there is the complete control keyboards from native instruments, but I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for. They are fully accessible but I don’t think they would allow you to mix things and stuff.

Well I am looking for a midi keyboard aswell just havnt decided on one yet, I'll take a look at that :)

Midi controllers aren't for mixing, you will probably do that in your DAW. You should use reaper for your DAW if you're on windows - komplete kontrol keyboards are your best option, especially because they have an accessibility component and tie in with the expansive sample collection from native instruments known as komplete

OK thanks, which complete control keyboard would you recommend

I would argue that actually most modern midi controllers can double as control services that indeed can be used for mixing. I have the Nectar Impact LX 49 key midi controller and it has faders and rotary knobs that can be used to adjust track volumes and pans or whatever else you want. Fully programmable
rory-games 2 points 1y ago
That's true. But those are probably mapped to the dAW or a separate mixer

Sounds good :)
