What is beauty to you? (self.Blind)
submitted by ZiggyBobJoe
For people who have been blind since they were born, when someone describes a person as very handsome, what do you imagine? What is the concept of beauty to you?

I wrote this in 2019:
"I am totally blind and have always been. So I have no attraction to anything visually.

SO what do I find beautiful?
My wife's body, from a tactile perspective.
Music, especially certain classical, choral or otherwise harmonious works.
Poetry or prose with that hard-to-define quality that really calls to me.
Clean computer code, algorithms written well, serving their purpose properly.
Collections of things well-organised: book or music collections, etc.
Food, particularly meals juxtaposing flavour or texture.
The pure emptiness and possibility offered by a blank document to write in, an empty project to code, or a clean countertop to prep food."

I wasn’t totally blind from birth but pretty close didn’t have much vision to begin with.

I would say that I don’t know., just seems like another adjective to me. With not much significance attached. I guess I think he has nice features but beyond that I don’t know. Maybe one thinks of features one can touch or are nice to them? Something like that. I mean beauty would have to be adapted through touch and feel. Or smell nice or something like that.

It’s kind of like what does the color red mean to a totally blind person from birth it doesn’t mean much, but maybe love, because society says that it does.

Does that make sense?

Yes that makes sense, thanks a lot for your time xx

Not a problem just wanted to make sure it wasn’t some nonsense I was just spouting though it makes sense to me, I was looking at the replies, finally had a chance and yeah, seems to be pretty close to mine.

Beauty for me is a round belly, personality, music, an accent, a well-made game, food, things like that.

kind of blind since birth, but not totally blind.

I do get the point of physical beuty, but, I've gotten use to not using my eyes so much that I don't even look at people's faces these days. If people's behaviour is nice though, I'll be very curious and interested in looking at them. Sadly, due to how my sight functions, darker skin colors, fer colors, darker environments in general don't provide that much details to me. So, I have decided not to relye on my eyes while trying to understand beuty around me. How they behave, what their attitude is, those are the beuty points for me.

Natural beuty though, like seenary etc, that I understand. Although, I fail to see most of details in photos or in the seen in front of me, the overall picture does provide me a sense of beuty to me. Night seens are totally invisible to me. Don't understand that. Have never seen stars in sky, so that as well. Moon is like a small LED to me, even when it's not full moon. Sunsets and sunrises, absolutely beutiful. Flowers are also beutiful to me.
