This was the first place that I came to asking questions about how to start really preparing for further losing my vision and I got all kinds of answers.
Well, today I was approved by our state's services for the blind and I will have access to all kinds of services and training. Like mobility and learning braille, and preparing my home to be more visually impaired friendly. Alot of what I do on a regular basis was suggested to me, but I do things different than sighted people because even before this I had pretty bad vision. It's nice to see I won't have to change a whole big lot.
I'm extremely excited, and it's bittersweet to be approved for something like this, as you can't say "well I'm not THAT visually impaired..." Anymore.
Anyhow, thank you to everyone who helped me and commented on my posts in the past, it's helped me be able to accept everything that's going on. It means a lot.

Sure though I myself don’t hardly know what that is like since I was so low vision that they trained me as a totally blind person when I entered the system at 5. Pretty much. Then I lost my vision at 8 but didn’t have much to begin with.
Keep going, and keep learning. Blindness is not the end of the world. I’ve done a lot in my life.
Take pride in your new skills and training. Be proud of the blindie life and blindie way. Call yourself a blink and blindie. Put on the entire armor.

I'm not sure what the future will hold for me, but it'll have my kids and wife so I'm not worried about it. Obviously things have changed, and I'm not sure which path I want to pursue, but it is a little exciting. Might even get back into writing music. :)

It hasn’t changed that much if you don’t want it too. You can do the same job and go back and do similar if not the same things if you can adapt them. Don’t give up on the old life. Some maybe less possible but you can replace them with something similar.
Writing music sounds like an excellent idea. Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And yeah, that is good that you have them.

HI OP It's fantastic you've been approved for training, you won't know yourself after some O&M come back any time, there will always be someone happy to answer any questions, and who knows, in time you may wind up giving advice yourself. Welcome to the white cane club 👍👍👍🧑🦯

No doubt!! There's alot of things that happen and I think, how can I make this work? Lol. But I'm out with my cane and proud to say that I am optimistic and hopeful.

Best of luck bro. Do keep asking questions, on reddit and everywhere else. That's the way we all learn.

I'm a big question guy, I love asking questions, to my detriment sometimes lol. I'm a big nerd that likes to learn things, and there has been a huge amount to learn with this. Thank you!!!

I'm happy for you because this will make your life easier. I definitely understand the "well I'm not THAT visually impaired.." as well.
