Can’t pull up elements list using NVDA (self.Blind)
submitted by TeamRamRodTheThird
I use NVDA on my HP laptop using the laptop layout setting but neither insert F7 or NVDA key F7 will pull up my elements list anymore. Has any else run into this problem?

I can usually get around familiar websites but without the elements list new sites can be a little frustrating.

I suspect your function keys are actually doing things on the laptop, not being sent to NVDA. Usually you can change this via the computer's boot menu, but that requires sighted assistance.

In the mean time, you can probably use the "FN," or Function, key to switch it. So you'd press NVDA+FN+F7.

i am unsure if it works for other manufacturers, but you can toggle the function key functionality from within the operating system (assuming windows here) with function plus escape. works for all the dell machines i work on at work, haven't tried it with other brands though. worth a shot to try out.

NVDA+FN+F7 worked perfectly. Appreciate all the help!

If this key combination isn't working for you, you could try switching it to something else by pressing NVDA+n, then going to preferences>Input Gestures.

You could also try downloading the ObjNav add-on. I mainly use it for its scan mode, but it also has a web mode, where you move between element types with up and down and elements with left and right. The default gesture for switching between modes is NVDA+control+tab; you can change that in Input Gestures, too.

what do you hear when you turn on keyboard help, ins+1, then press ins+f7? You aught to get
NVDA+f7
Lists various types of elements in this document

I was going to say the same thing here about the function keys, or try to restart NVDA and the computer.
