Best way to use twitter with nvda? (self.Blind)
submitted by vzjiofdanefnlk
I want to know how everyone is reading twitter with nvda?
If I try to read tweets with NVDA key + j, NVDA + k, it reads like this.
It Reads id, username, then id again, date, collapsed submenu, then finally, the content of the tweet.
It reads many unneeded stuff before the actual tweet.
How can I read it more efficiently?

There are a few apps that seem to be popular. All have a similar model: you can read tweets in a basic interface, like any other app, or you can use the screenless model. With this, you can read your tweets using a set of special keystrokes, without leaving the app you're already in.

The apps that come to mind are: TWBlue, Chicken Nugget, and Tweesecake. That last one offers the screenless model for more than just Twitter, too, supporting Telegram, file explorer, and more.

Wow, I tried Tweesecake, so good
you changed my life, thank you.
Thanks for the devs too.

I'm glad you found it helpful. I love the screenless model, and quite miss it when I'm on macOS. I'm hoping Tweesecake gains the ability to handle Slack someday.

Does chicken nugget still work? I thought they stopped giving out authentication keys.

It was when I used it a year or so ago. I've since switched to Tweesecake, but Chicken Nugget was updated a year or two back with a few new features. I'm not sure what its future is.

I see very interesting I have a key may have to check it out.

That’s just how it’s laid out I think. Unfortunately there use to be clients but twitter wasn’t happy with it sooo they said nah. And now we have to use main twitter.

There are tons of Twitter clients out there. The API limitations impact some of what they can do, such as forcing them to not receive notifications, but the changes definitely didn't kill off Twitter apps entirely.

I was big on twitter, but sadly the streaming changes to the API really broke things. Twitter was my go-to for live events: sports, politics, live music or popular TV broadcast events etc.
losing access to the live thoughts of thousands of other people, filling in the visual gaps, kinda chopped away my fun on the platform.

I guess I use it differently. I follow people, and have a few lists, but I don't follow hashtags or searches. I thought streaming was still allowed--I know my Twitter apps can all stream my home timeline, at least.

There’s a reply in the thread where someone mentions A client. I can’t remember the name at the moment, something like tweetscape?

It's called Tweesecake. There's also TW blue, chicken nugget and on iPhone there's Spring for example.

I liked twitter back then too for sure.
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
That’s good to hear.when the entire thing by twitter came. I thought I had wasted my money for sure. I’ll have to recheck them and see if they meet my needs. For a while if i accidentally lost access to them I couldn’t get a new api key.
Tradition_Intrepid 1 points 1y ago
We don't. There's chicken nugget, TW blue (my prefered one
and a lot more.

Here are the links.

For a while twitter was messing with things they weren’t working right. But yeah, I’ll check them out again.

I mean I just have to say it.

"Don’t use Twitter?"

This is just the correct ansr for everyone.
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
Twitter’s apps are pretty good though. So I would say that’s not a very good suggestion. The iphone native app works fine.
DHamlinMusic 1 points 1y ago
Oh yeah the Android app is just fine too, I more meant Twitter itself isn’t something people should do cause well Twitter.

Haha! Yeah, I guess some don’t like twitter for sure.
