High school/college jobs (self.Blind)
submitted by jjr_blind_java_dev
I am currently going through college and working for some kind of at least part time job. And I was genuinely curious, what kind of jobs did you guys do during high school or during your college careers?

Beta testing, advocacy work, representing and teaching other blind people, internships in chosen career fields.

Honestly I just work at a clothing store. I work out on the sales floor and make sure that the clothes are folded nicely on the tables and there’s no clothes on the ground. It’s a pretty tactile job. I even worked in the fitting room for a little bit as well. Directing people to open rooms and taking their own wanted clothes and hanging them up on the rack so somebody could distribute them back out on the sales floor.

medical transcription, data entry, touch-typing for classmates, computer programming, novel proofreading, writing/editing magazine articles, audio editing for a Podcast, radio newsreading, grocery shopping for the elderly and a stint of tutoring in comp sci for someone who could not grasp subnetting and network topology .
