Keyboard navigation in Windows Store (self.Blind)
submitted by synthpopolis
I tried googling this but didn't have any luck. Are there any useful shortcut keys or screen reader tips anyone can recommend for getting around in the Windows Store app on Windows 10? I've tried using F6 which often moves between areas of an app but it doesn't do anything. Seems like the tab key is the only means of getting around but that's pretty slow. I use NVDA if that helps. Thanks!

Tab is the only good way of getting around in NVDA. I recommend switching over to Narrator and enabling explore mode with capslock+space. Same as the brows/focus toggle in NVDA. You can then use more natural arrow key navigation.

Ah, good ol’ Microsoft… That is so like them to make it so that only their screen reader works in their store. LOL. Thanks for the suggestion! I will give that a shot

Think it's more the store was made for tablet use as well and they just never bothered fixing that, probably great feeling on a Surface with touch navigation.

try NVDA's object navigation. NVDA key with Numpad keys. Also, arrow keys work in the library menu, where you update all the installed apps.

I always explore windows UWP apps with NVDA's object navigation, to see if I am missing any info. Tab and arrow keys mostly do the job, but object navigation gives you more information. Try doing it in the update page of windows and see.
