Was I as a sighted person in the wrong for suggesting stem cell therapy to blind people in a rehabilitation center?(self.Blind)

You do not have access to the patients’ charts, you are a student.
Because of those two facts you do not know if stem cells are viable treatment for their vision loss. You don’t know about their finances.
You did not know enough about the situation to go in acting like a knowledgeable specialist.
When I lost my sight at 15 this would have filled me with hope, then crushed me. There is nothing wrong with my eyes or optic nerve, there is damage to my brain.

Eh, I'm kind of offended by both of you, but mostly you.
You know just enough about stem cells to sound like you know what you're talking about to someone with no knowledge. However, you have no actual scientific knowledge about stem cell treatments for vision therapy, nor do you know the medical history or conditions of the people you were talking to.
But I'd also kinda be annoyed at the yelling girl who felt like she needed to protect me from the idiot who was talking out his ass about something he didn't know anything about. You were wrong, but she should have handled it in a private conversation (and maybe she did, you just didn't articulate that).
Also, and perhaps most importantly, just because we can't see, it doesn't mean we need fixing.
Barring you from coming back sounds reasonable to me, and has nothing to do with any "controversy" over stem cells.

This is the correct answer.

Totally inappropriate. Yes, you wanted to help but what you said wasn't helpful. These people have doctors and care teams working with them. They are most likely adults who can do their own research. They don't need you to tell them anything.
You don't "know" about regenerative therapy, you've read about it and you have no idea if there is a "great chance" of restoring someone's vision or not. If you aren't a doctor don't give medical advice and especially don't offer unsolicited medical advice.

Stem cell therapy is dangerous and has resulted in people actually dying. This is why it's unapproved in the US. There is an interesting podcast called Bad Batch that I'd recommend about a botchedstem cell therapy treatment project.
Sounds like you know absolutely nothing about the subject and gave people false information, you assume that all blind people want their eyesight back, and you suggested really dangerous and reckless ways for people to get this treatment. Banning you from the premises is absolutely appropriate IMO and I hope this gets back to your school and they make you take a course on medical ethics.

I can't comment on the whole stem cell therapy, I'm not sure how extensive the research has been, I just feel uncomfortable with what feels like unsolicitated advice. It also wasn't right for your sister to chew you out like that either, even if she is reluctant about the whole thing.
