Is there a way to see how many videos a channel has on the youtube website. (self.Blind)
submitted by bradley22
Edit 2: I’ve switched to chrome and things are working fine.

Edit: I should probably mention, I use NVDA.

Hi, for the life of me I can't figure this out, I'd like to see how many videos a channel has and also, I think when I press enter on the videos tab; not all videos are displayed, is there a way to fix this?

For example: if I go to creepsmcpasta, I know for a fact he's uploaded way more than 2 months ago. There's at least 5 years or more of content, is there a way to see all of that or a next button or something?

or, is there another website I could use to get a better youtube experience?

I kind of cheat a little bit. I use yt-dlp and jq. Plug in a user or channel url, pipe it through jq and get a text file of video titles and URLs.

So it looks kind of like this:

yt-dlp -j --flat-playlist <url> | jq -r '"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v="+.url,.title' > video-list.txt

Thanks, yeah I’m sure that would work :-) I decided to just use chrome for now and everything seems to be working fine.

When I am using voiceover it lists each video headline, views, and everything. If you can use the youtube data api you can even see dislikes

Beta testing? I don’t do beta testing on YouTube. I use their official data api

Thanks, I switched to chrome and while I can’t see the amount of Videos, it’s better.

Hey I used to watch that channel too! Not so much lately though. They used to display the amount of videos. Not sure as to why that was removed. They also removed a feature on the mobile app that let you sort the videos from oldest to newest. Alot of unnecessary changes lately.

Wow! It’s weird. I can get all the videos on the app by scrolling, but it seems that on the website itself at least with NVDA and Firefox, it doesn’t seem to work.

On the video tab, can you access the "Sort By" option on the right side? If it's set to "Most Popular", you won't see the newest ones. Change it to "Date Added (newest)" and you should see videos from a couple of days ago.

In terms of seeing all of the videos, as you scroll down and it will populate with more videos until you reach the end.

I should probably mention, I'm using a screen reader, I go to the bottom of the page and am unable to scroll past 4 months ago.
retrolental_morose 1 points 1y ago
how are you scrolling? Like with arrows, link shorffcut, tab etc?
bradley22 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
Using arrows, it seams to work on chrome just fine.

ah.
In the early days of web page virtualisation, the cursors and first-letter navigation only navigated the virtual document as provided by the screen reader. So if you wanted the browser to know you'd moved beyond a certain point in the page, you'd have to tab ahead, or manually move the mouse to that part of the page etc.
I'm presuming that's changed in some screen-readers and browser combos nowadays.
