Certain keys on my braille writer aren't producing crisp dots(self.Blind)
submitted by anonymombie
As the title says, some of the keys on my braille writer aren't producing crisp dots. I know if I had an open case with the state, they'd fix it, but I don't have one right now. I also have no money to send it off for repair, but I am pretty handy with tools and cleaning machines. Is there anything I can do to remedy this situation?

I would say sending it off to perkins is your best bet.

There are several people who do repair. I was thinking once there was a place where prisoners repaired machines with no charge. I'll do some digging. From what I've looked at mine, those machines are not easy to take apart.

Perkins has a six part youtube series on how to repair a brailler... it has audio description and might be helpful. Here's the link: $1

You know, I remembered this series, but I didn't realize it also had audio description. Thank you for pointing that out.
