How to get a tutorial on using jaws better (self.Blind)
submitted by QueasyAngle9524
Hey guys.
I started using jaws screen reader about five months ago fully and I was wondering if there’s anything I can search up to learn the commands, web browsing, and the screen reader more? If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you!

It’s been years since I’ve used jaws but you should be able to Press your jaws key, CapsLock or number zero or incert and then release them then press F1 and you should be in the help document menu. I believe you press F6 on a topic you want to know about, like I say, it’s been years, so the shortcut to my have changed.

OK. I will take a look at that in a little while. I will let you know if it still works. I use NVDA just as well, but still trying to learn a little bit more towards jaws.

it comes with lots of training material, look in the help menu of JAWS itself.
Also google JAWS surfs up for some online web-based training

shoot specific questions back of course, I'm an NVDA user now, but the whole web-page navigation stuff germinated with JAWS. :) also learn about the quick keys in office, if you use Word or Outlook. proper time-savers.

I prefer the virtual ribbon menus myself.

Yeah JAWS itself has quite a few help facilities built-in, it usually does pretty good about documentation even where new features are concerned. There's probably also people who can help with more hands-on teaching , I myself do this for example, but that will probably cost at least some dollars :)

How much do you charge? Just curious.
zersiax 1 points 1y ago
it depends on what we cover and how often we meet but generally about 30 dollars an hour or so :)

If you go to the help menu, there should be something labeled commands or something like that (sorry, I don't have my computer with me for reference). You can then search for the command you want in a textfield.

Thank you! I will try that.

Freedom scientific itself has webbinars those may help.

Okay. I will look into that one. Thank you!
