Which Cane Tip Do You Use Indoors? (self.Blind)
submitted by derangespoo
When I say indoors, I'm talking about places like the mall. I've been using marshmallow tip but I feel like it's too slippery on the tiles. Any advice? What do you guys use?

Thank you.

I use an older cane tip actually! One that’s more worn down so it can pick up on more and not slide around, it’s a quick change with the ambutech hook ones.

That's what I'm thinking of doing too, thanks!

I have a marshmallow tip cane I specifically bought to use indoors, but nine times out of ten I leave it home and take the big roller ball cane instead.

The marshmallow tip is great for indoors, but what I didn't think about when I bought it is I have to get from the car to the mall somehow, and marshmallow tips aren't good outdoors. They snag on everything!

All my canes, except the colapsable one, have rolling tips. They're fine for most places. Maybe not for snow but there's nothing like it in Brazil.

I use a rolling marshmallow or ball normally, just got a ceramic that I am going to try today.

I use my silver circle tip, (or metal glider depending on what you call it), some of the time. I use my marshmallow tip with my collapsible cane most of the time though because it is more convenient for others if we have to sit down somewhere in public, but the foldable canes don't give as much vibrational feedback as they are usually made of metal and not carbon fiber or graphene. I like the graphene best because it picks up more vibrational, textural and sound information, but it does not collapse.

Depends on the brand I would think, allmine are folding ambitech that are graphite.

Nice! I was wondering if they made a lighter, foldable one. Would really be helpful actually.

Yeah the folding ones come in metal, graphite, and fiberglass. Mine is 6 sections, graphite, blue handle and last section, white otherwise, with the standard grip though that is shorter on the 6 section so also reduces the weight.

I've never used a metal glider tip, how does it feel compared to the standard nylon ones?
GrunMoonMan 2 points 1y ago
I prefer it to nylon, personally. More durable and they give good sound and vibration. You can roll them, glide them, or tap them and it really helps me pick up more information about my surroundings.

I just use the same one, I find the nfb glide tips to work just fine.
