Hello all! I have a grand parent in recovery from an accident right now who is visually impaired. I bought him a Google home mini which he LOVES. He uses it to make phone calls, check the time/weather, and listen to Spotify.
My question is, are there any other apps that would be easy for him to use for entertainment purposes? Since he is in transitional care and not at home he is very bored. It must be something simple enough for a senior to navigate, but he is also pretty savvy when it comes to using the speaker.
I am not creative enough to think of anything else! He has a Samsung phone, and can not rely on his vision at all.
Thanks everyone!

I don't know if they are similar, but you can ask Google to play a game, answer questions, make animal sounds. In the morning say 'good morning Google'.

Good ideas! Thank you!

Google all the fun things Google can do, we had a list of 50 on out kitchen wall. The games weren't accessible where I live, so we did, call santa, tell us a joke, what noise does a ....... make. There are walk through quest games I think

don’t have that set up but I bet you could have it play things from YouTube as well if you know what to search for. Or at least get to the search results part if you say hey google search YouTube for Led Zeppelin or something and then just try touching around on the middle of the screen you’ll find something

Audiobooks! Or podcasts! Maybe set up an account on Spotify or Audible and he can ask google to play those.

Okay yeah I've been thinking about podcasts for him. It's just hard for him to begin again at a stopped point with just vocal commands. Even on a playlist.

Audible is good at keeping your place in a book Though I’m less fond of their podcast selection

Google has their own podcast service I think.

Use talk back?

Thanks! I didn't even know this was a thing.

It’s definitely a thing along with brailleback but my opinion is apple’s voice over is a bit easier but I know people who would easily disagree with me.

I think at this point switching from Android to apple would be impossible for my grandma who sets everything up for him. But that's good to know!

That makes sense. Well, hopefully things will go well. Android is okay but apple is better but android will work if you let it.
