being blind doesn't make you retarded. i'm a 36 year old man, you don't need to explain to me what a car is or how seatbelts work in a car. i'm not experiencing the world around me for the first time; i got a bit of time under my belt this isn't my first rodeo.

yet, so many people treat us like we have no idea what we're doing, or that we need help with everything.

also while i'm ranting, there's no need to praise a blind person for doing something simple like putting their shoes on the right feet. that's so incredibly patronizing. would you want someone giving you a "great job, you did it!" each time you stepped out of the bathroom?

Heh this reminds me of all the people I’ve met who are astonished I’m walking around by myself. I feel like they’d lose their minds if I let it slip that I dressed myself too. :D

right? i've had so many people ask "how do you do that?" wha, walk around? well you put one foot in front of the other and just kinda move your body in a way in which you fall forward in a controlled manner, and catch yourself with your legs each time, it's quite impressive

That most of us have some degree of vision and total blindness isn’t dark.

Yep, I have so many types of mostly worthless gibberish nonsense vision, it's very entertaining.

I like the part where my eye will just hallucinate by itself for no damn reason :D

That we can use computers/smart phones. It seems to blow their minds.

That we are people? That we have agency and our own thoughts? I get tired of people acting like we can't enjoy anything or do anything because of our vision issues.

How capable blind/low vision people. The unemployment level is abused and shouldn’t be!
