I find the best way is to just start working in it, get some learning done online. Do you mean like dev work or more like information technology. I just started helping and working at my university. The first stuff wasn’t even payed but if you work long enough at it and understand the field and you tell people about your projects you can probably get somewhere.maybe get a compsci degree. That’s the best way.

They only do assistive tech training as far as I know over there. But that’s probably just a meh way. I think the really good ones are more uni or start working and experience. Even helping out online. That’s how my current employer found me. I was helping out everyone a lot of it had no money or profit but it was experience, I knew my stuff and really learnt about accessibility and testing on the user end.

Blind guy legit too. Found me on a blind group helping people and messaged me and said he liked what I was doing. Then later, a little later, offered me an internship/more. I think it’ll be a long internship/more we’ll see. Rare but people could be looking or even see you and go wow! Maybe I am not looking but I need to give that guy a chance.

But yeah, help out get to know the industry and apply for internship or contract work or else jobs.

What type of tech? Like I said dev type stuff or information tech?

> wasn’t even *paid* but if

FTFY.

Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:

* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*

* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*

Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

I went there. I'd go for the IT stuff, more than AT, but there may be good places to work where you live. They also have a general call center type training thing, and they may still have the IRS Representative thing too. It's ... not bad. But when I was there, in 2019, they were still using JAWS 16 and Windows 7. We have better in my state's local AT center.

I was there 20 years ago. 0/10 would not recommend.
