Twitter App Suddenly Completely Unusable with VoiceOver on IOS(self.Blind)
submitted by mashington14
Anyone else have this problem in the last week or so? Twitter used to be one of the best apps in terms of simple functionality with VO, but it's suddenly completely different, with tons of unlabled buttons and swiping that's taking me all over the place in seemingly random ways. My app and IOS are both fully up to date.
Anyone else encounter this problem? Know of any fixes? Are there any alternative Twitter apps I could use? Thanks!

I’m definitely having this trouble, especially in the notification section. There are unlabelled buttons and it gets stuck in a loop and I don’t know why.

Thought: Have you made sure screen recognition hasn't been accidentally turned on for the Twitter app?

No issues on my end, but I am on the iOS 16 beta. That said, I'm thinking about switching to a third-party client because the official client is just kinda meh. You might wanna try the same. Twitteriffic and Spring are both favorites among blind users

Is twitterific or tweetlist still around I loved those.

I used that first one back when I had low vision, could change it into dark mode and it made reading everything super easy for me.

Oh nice I liked that one better as well. Then twitter messed with apis and it didn’t work but was a big fan of it. One of the first ones recommended to me and it had mac and phone versions. Use to use twitter much more.

Seconding forgetting the official Twitter app and using Spring instead. I kept having trouble with Twitter not reading things or skipping around because of the ads too (although this was months ago). I gave up and got Spring. I think you can get it for $5 if you want the bells and whistles but even the free version of Spring is great.

I'm not having that problem with Twitter, but I am really enjoying Spring. It's not cheap if you want the version with all the features, but wow is it ever good, and customizable. You can even change the number of tabs that appear on the bottom, make the tab bar scrollable to fit even more things in, pin lists and profiles to it, and change the order of rotor actions on tweets, much like Dystopia if you're using that. They've done a lot of great work.

can you use spring with an external keyboard the way you can use Twitterrific?

how does it compare to twitteriffic? I've slowly been getting more and more sick of the official client?
