is there a way to type faster when you don't talkback on Android ? I know where all the buttons are so I don't need the audio aspect but it takes so long to type(self.Blind)

If you know braille, I suggest you try the TalkBack Braille Beyboard. HTH.

I cannot agree with this more, it's just so much faster, more reliable, and useful. This was written with it btw.

Ok so I found a solution to the problem kinda. You can reduce hold time needed for each character in the advanced settings within the talkback settings.
There are some apps for braille keyboards which can be faster once you get used to them. I asked Humanware if they'd ever release theirs they developed for the braillenote touch as a stand alone, but they said no plans to do so. That's the best one I know of.
Then if you're really sure you're good with the location of the keys, there is a setting for swiping instead of tapping: https://support.google.com/gboard/answer/2811346?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid#:~:text=On%20your%20Android%20phone%20or,spell%20the%20word%20you%20want.

Oh gotcha, thank you. Are these usable while talkback is enabled?

Is dictation an alternative?

Yeah definitely, I just get annoyed when I start talking and people respond to me and then I have to figure out which text got put in lol
