App to increase web page contrast? (self.Blind)
submitted by Fredchasing475
Looking for an app/extension for IOS Safari that would allow me to override a web site’s font selection with my own. (Firefox on a Mac, for example, allows this). Ideally, I’d be able to replace any text on any site with something dark and bold. Note that I do know about Reader View, built into Safari, but it isn’t available on all web pages, esp. forms I need to fill out from time to time. So that’s not an idea option.
Reason: I’ve got RP and very low contrast vision, and so many web pages use thin, light gray text that’s barely visible, at least to me. But I still can read screens generally, and prefer that to resorting to text-to-speech.
Posting here first, but maybe I ought to post in some IOS/iPad sub instead?

What about using ios already awesome feature packed set of tools first?

What tools, specifically? I already use reading mode as I said, when it works. And I’ve already got high contrast turned on, bold print turned on, etc. The problem, of course, is that most of these have no effect on webpages that set their own fonts. Inverting text sometimes helps, but inverting very light gray text on a white background just gives you very dark gray text on a black background, which is equally unreadable

Have you tried inverting colors so the backgound is black and text is white? It has been a complete gamechanger for me and I can now read smaller thinner text. There is a shortcut to do this on a Mac, but I only know how to do it on an iPad by triple tapping with three fingers, choose filter, inverted.

I found a bit of a hack just enlarging pages with the pinch out gesture and have been using the Noir extension but I’m not sure that’s as nuanced as you need it to be
