Best Bluetooth headset/headphones to work with NVDA and JAWS?(self.Blind)
submitted by xdqrun
Hello! I regularly use NVDA and JAWS in the office, I quickly get tired of the current headphones. Can you recommend something more suitable?

I just bought the Edifier W100T model. It has bluetooth 5.2 I guess, so the lag is fine on my iPhone SE 1. I also have the W800bt plus by the same brand. It’s lag is also fine, the battery lasts for like 50 hours and you can use it with a P2 or USBC cable as a wired alternative.

Tell me more about your use case. What is important to you in these headphones? How often are you talking versus listening? Do you want in ear, on ear, or over ear? Are you talking a lot, and is a noise canceling microphone important to you? Are you just concerned about noise canceling in the ear pieces? Does noise canceling matter at all? Do you have a price range?

Good questions. 80% (listen) versus 20% (talk). Yes, I would prefer noise cancellation. It's hard for me to concentrate when NVDA is talking in my headphones and something is making noise. The microphone is important as I often participate in video conferences. Relatively in-ear, on-ear (is it like AirPods?) or overhead. I'm sure on-ear are the best option. On the one hand, the ear is not so tired, on the other hand, such earpieces do not interfere with the glasses. The price is up to 100-200 dollars.

I prefer headphones with a small dongle that you plug to USB port. Logitech has some models; I don't know any other brands.

Jabra does as well.

What are you already using? Have you thought of like jbl or beats or something like that? Some people really like the logitech ones but I don’t think the sound is always the highest quality. There was a guy I knew that liked akg headphones?

I am using the first generation of Xiaomi Airdots.

Ah, I see. Well maybe some of those I suggested. The gaming headsets can work too

The thing is that with Bluetooth you’re going to experience a bit of a lag. Have you tried the Bluetooth NVDA add-on?
I've been using Bluetooth headphones for years and would never go back to wired ones. The lag isn't bad at all.

I can't code with Bluetooth headphones, the lag is just too bad with my screen reader at over700 words per minute.

Interesting. I sometimes have lag with my iPhone, but not to a degree I find annoying on my computer.

that's handy. Perhaps I just buy cheap bluetooth headphones - although come to think of it, my 1st gen Apple Airpods were just as laggy as anything else.
I prefer RF or FM if I can manage it, although finding a decent USB FM transmitter is a pain these days. There are loads of 3.5mm ones which are fine as far as it goes, but they need power, as does some form of receiver.
For now, I have a tiny radio which worksfor over 30 hours on a single rechargeable AAA battery, and an FM transmitter that has an internal lithium battery. That sits in my headphone and USB-A port and the radio is on my belt loop with a wired earbud, so I can walk away from my desk without getting entangled.

It depends on certain things, for me I can’t press shift age and age for example to go through headings as fast as I could with wired headphones. Having said that, Bluetooth headphones are amazing for walking round the house and listening to stuff.
although now I think on it, I don’t think I have the Bluetooth addon installed so I might wanna do that.
