submitted by chilifrys
Hello everone, so i have convergance paralysis due to a TBI when i was 10. I'm 28 now and i cant even remember what "normal" vision is like. I only see out of my right eye with double vision 100% of the time. My left eye only works 50% which is causeing the double vision. Due to the TBI, i can only see out of my left eye when i cover my right eye, but it gets super blurry and nauseating. Ive learnd to "focus" my double vision into only seeing one of things but im still not seeing anything out of my left eye. It looks perfectly fine, but if it were to cover it or lose it i couldnt tell. Sorry i feel like this is pretty hard to explain, any advice or questions would be cool thank you

Yeah it’s possible to be legally blind or VI through a TBI. You would need to get an eye exam for an official diagnosis but I’ve met people in the blind community who have vision similar to yours

You should see a low vision optometrist. They may be able to fit prism glasses that corrects the double vision and lets you use your left eye for peripheral vision as well. My TBI survivor uncle got a pair of these last winter and it was like night and day.

The best way to find out is through an eye exam through an eye doctor or ophthalmologist.
