Low vision (macular degeneration) - blurring spazzes?? (self.Blind)
submitted by gabby_skii
Howdy. I was diagnosed with Sargardt disease last year, since there’s no real way for the condition to pop up out of nowhere I’ve had it all my life but have only been experiencing symptoms in my late teens. However for as long as I can remember I’ve had blurring episodes in which my vision will (without my control) blur intensely. It doesn’t necessarily hurt to try and refocus but it does take effort. Does anyone else with macular degeneration or other conditions experience this? MRIs come back with no optic nerve damage.

I have RP, but also was told I have macular drussen which is a precursor to macular degeneration, and I also get blurring episodes. I also have macular edema, but I think it was when the drussen started that the blurring episodes became more pronounced. Mine might be different from yours as for me, the blurring looks different from the blurring of unfocussing my eyes, but I’m guessing blurring episodes are common with macular issues.

Haven’t experienced burning yet, how painful is it?

Sorry, that should say “blurring.”
