I use BSI a lot on my phone but I've been wondering a couple things about it. Does anyone know if it's possible to disable the print characters and words appearing between the braille dots when typing? Also is there any way to disable the two finger scrub escape? I don't know why but that gesture has consistently caused me a lot of trouble over the years and the few minutes I found a workaround to disable it were heaven haha. Thanks for any advice! And if anyone just wants to share tips, tricks, and favorite things about BSI I'd love to hear them. :)

I don't think either is possible.

Me neither. I wondered if you could do something with a Voiceover activity triggered on word processing, but screen curtain doesn't seem to be a customisable setting unfortunately.
Is this any different to a sighted person texting, though? And surely given that both your hands are covering more of the screen than a typical finger, there's less to view anyway?
I keep my brightness down partly to save my battery, partly to deter people looking, but it does make screenshots a pain.

I don't understand your last paragraph. In terms of taking screenshots, brightness shouldn't matter.

Sighted people say they're darker ... means little to me but they'd know surely?

I haven't found that to be the case.

I have some usuable vision and tend to flip between using BSI and my vision to help navigate my phone so fast that screen curtain isn't very feasible.

I don't understand why you wouldn't just use screen curtain? If you're proficient enough with voiceover that you're using BSI, I imagine that navigation of your phone would be way easier with voiceover and not trying to use vision altogether

Alas, I thought that might be the case. Every gesture with BSI is editable it seems except two finger scrub. And I have never figured out why there's no option to disable the print characters; handy for braille learners with vision but most of us don't want strangers on the bus reading our texts as we write them heh. Thanks for the reply!

Why not lower the brightness to 0 and/or use Screen Curtain (three finger triple-tap)?

I use what vision I have a lot to help navigate my phone in conjunction with Voiceover and BSI. It's not usually much of an issue at home, I'm just uncomfortable texting in public because of the visible characters but not very confident using the phone with screen curtain on or so dim I can't see it at all.

Do the print characters not disappear when you use the screen curtain?
razzretina [OP]1 points11m ago
They do but I don't use the screen curtain. I'm operating my phone with a mix of very limited vision, mostly Voiceover, and BSI.

As far as I know it's not any different on Android, not sure what the gesture you mention is but the other part is the same.
