Do you mean Windows explorer which is the folder navigation app, or internet explorer?

Microsoft retired internet explorer, edge is the replacement and it is free.

Oh, I mean windows explorer.

I used to use explorerplusplus on windows 10. It had neat bookmarking features, wildcard selection within a folder, could print directory listings, was faster than the native shell, used tabs and never crashed.

Interesting. I might look into it.

I used it a lot at college when I was forced into using DAISY books, being able to wildcard select just the mp3's in a folder without having to go through the whole view, sort by, type, then find them and faff around was useful.
I'm not sure how well it will integrate as a replacement shell on modern windows, and I make heavy use of my win+e key and the run dialog both, so if I wanted to get hold of it on a modern system I'd need to look into that.
I also ran $1 back in my Win7 days when I used explorerplusplus, which is also still around, according to a quick google.

What’s wrong with windows explorer?
bradley22 1 points 11m ago
Nothing really, I was just seeing if I could branch out.

I use Free comander. It has some oddities, but the added capabilities are worth it.

Thanks, i'm going to stick to explorer.

try it. You can delete it normally if you don't like it after all.

I did, it’s not for me.

That's fine. I can't live without it anymore due to the flexibility of the keyboard commands you can create on it. I think there are other alternatives to explorer worth trying though.
