How do you apply makeup? (self.Blind)
submitted by MusicLover035
Hey! I went totally blind a couple months ago, but I want to start learning how to apply makeup. I bought a couple things like blush, eyeshadow, mascara, etc etc, and I have no clue where to even start?

If anyone could give me a jumping point, that'd be great! A lot of things are very visual, so I can't really follow along when watching YouTube videos.

Thanks in advance!

There is a website called Hadley school for the blind and they have make up tips and tricks. There’s also some people on TikTok and YouTube like Lucy Edwards and Molly Burke could do make up videos
For myself I mostly use my hands or a sponge and feel my face before applying anything then call a volunteer on Be My Eyes or a family member to make sure it’s evenly applied

Molly Burke is a fully blind YouTuber, so it’s designed for other fully blind people to use. I highly recommend! She helped me learn how to put on eyeliner for the first time in years.

I came here to recommend Molly Burke's videos as well. Here is a link to her make-up tutorial.

My sister helps me with mine, since eyeliner is the only thing I can do by feel. If you've got someone to help tell you where you need to apply it, that'll help a lot. And when we're in a hurry to be somewhere, she does it for me. She also dyes my hair because if I mess it up it's hilariously bad!

I'm monocular and I can only do my eyeliner on my blind eye. Are there some tricks to apply it? I have completely given up on that, now I only do eyeshadow (it's like painting, ahah) and mascara (which is easier to fix).

I've been doing my eyeliner for years by feel, usually when I was driving to work (I know, I know), and instead of putting it just below the lid, I've always done it on like, the inside? Not sure how to describe the line along the inside of the lower lid that ends at the tearduct, but for me, it has a particular feel and I know if I miss. I can't do my mascara to save my life lol, couldn't do it sighted and can't do it mostly blind either, so you're doing that and the eyeshadow way better than I can!
