Not from there but remember reading about how good their public transit was. I think they have audio announcements at each stop. That was years ago, hope its even better now.

I am going to follow this… I lost my eyesight while living in Raleigh and left because you definitely need a car in that city. I want to move back to North Carolina, so hopefully Charlotte will be it.

Hey, I'm legally blind and I LOVE Charlotte! The public transportation here is easy, safe, and reliable. Specifically, the light rail is a super convenient and cheap means of transportation that goes from South Carolina through dowtown Charlotte all the way to UNC-Charlotte (\~45 mins). The light rail has an audio system that is great at letting you know what stop you are coming up to, as well as what bus routes are nearby the light rail stop. Outside the light rail and the bus, Uber's are also pretty cheap and take no longer than 10 mins usally. The best part is how walkable the city is. Within 10 mins of my apartment, I can walk to grocery stores, variety of restaurants, light rail stop, and the very accessible Rail Trail which I use to do long walks all the time! Someone mentioned the difficulty of living in Raleigh and I agree 100% (lived there for grad school and I had to rely on my friends so much) In Charlotte though, I have been able to live a very independent life and it's incredible.
