The Fall by Albert Camus (self.books)
submitted 13h ago by EricBlair101
I just finished The Fall but I know it will live rent free in my mind for a long time. Like most of Camus works it packs a punch for being such a short book. Of course it raised more questions than answers which is frustrating but I suppose that is the purpose of the philosopher.

The writing style was also unlike anything I’ve read and felt like the entire thing was a cut scene from a video game.

I’m curious what anyone else took away from the story?

As far as I understood, the big portion of the message is about how Camus, at least in this book and this narrative, swindles the reader from ''l'' (as in ''I did something'', ''I was there'', etc...) to ''we'' and, finally, to ''you''.

So, when looking from the perspective of pointing fingers, the Narrator (the Advocate, if I remember correctly) first points the finger at himself, but then ends up pointing the finger at the reader (if you wish).

Personally, I still struggle to find some coherent meaning of the Camus's message. Maybe because there are more then one messages.
