All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka (self.books)

I came into this book with low expectations and was thoroughly surprised. It's something like a cross between Groundhog Day and Halo, where the protagonist goes through hundreds of iterations of his first battle against an alien force. Not only did it have a very interesting concept, the book did a great job of executing it and had several totally unexpected twists. For anyone who likes stories where the main character repeats the same day continuously, I would definitely recommend this book.

i am so pleasantly surprised to see someone talking about All You Need is Kill here! personally i read the manga adaptation of it illustrated by takeshi obata (same guy who illustrated death note) but i 100% agree it is sooo good. i read it two years ago on the beach and i remember i cried at the end 10/10
i also watched the movie adaptation live die repeat and will most likely pick up the light novel! such a good story
