i'm like reading a swedish children's book named heidi and instantly love it. just like this nature type of thing. A little girl go up to live with her grandpa in the alps. little hut, cosy fire in the room, easy and plain food every single day. resting in the pasture with goats, overlooking the snowy hills. just beautiful. this book really suits me just as the enid blyton books suits me too. Any guys heared this book?

Swiss, not Swedish and yes it’s a massive part of the Swiss folklore

I love Heidi. I have such vivid memories of reading about her first night at her grandfather's.

I’m so happy you’ve found this book! I still have the copy my Granny gave to me, which I read to my daughter when she was a little girl. It’s just lovely

It's one of the most popular kids books in Europe, concidered a classic.

I hated it as a kid, the part where the boy pushes the wheelchair off the mountain thinking that would make Clara leave just horrified me. And then it turned out that all Clara needed was some fresh air and for someone to break her wheelchair for her to start walking again.

I've bought it but I haven't read it yet. I believe at least one sequel was written, but since I saw that it wasn't by the original author I had no interest. I'm glad that it sounds great!

There was actually a thread about favorite childhood books a month or so ago and Heidi is a favorite for quite a few of us. It's a very cozy book. I read it when I was 7 and I still reread it every couple of years.
