Prenatal and Perinatal: The difference in brain? (self.neuroscience)
submitted 11y ago by [deleted]
I ran across this article:
http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/life/philosophers-claim-over-moral-right-to-kill-newborns-sparks-outrage-20120301-1u61l.html

I was wondering if anybody that might be a neuroscientist or someone with any information on differentions between pre- and post- birth would be able to shed some light on the difference between the two. I´m not looking for a philosophical or ethical argument on abortion, just information on any facts people could give me about maybe synaptic pruning or whatnot that might set a stage to have this discussion?

Look, even arguendo, before you can get into pre and post discussion, one must first clearly delineate what stage of embryonic development you are talking about. For example, a zygote has less in common with a full term embryo than say a full term embryo has to a 1-minute-old born embryo, i.e. baby. But that does not automatically mean that all embryos are ipso facto babies.

But more to your point

What discussion are you trying to have exactly?
