Can anyone help explain oscillatory neuron networks/phase change/Pyloric network to me? (self.neuroscience)
submitted 11y ago by cylonsympathizer
Hello! Do you know anything about the Pyloric network? How it functions, how the oscillations work, what exactly is rhythmic about it, etc. Can you put it in for-idiot terms?

Phase, to my understanding, refers to the proportion of time spent in burst and between burst in a rhythmically firing neuron- is that correct? Do you know anything about phase change and the mechanisms behind it?

Basically, I'm trying to read all these papers about phase change for some research I start next week. Every single article throws this jargon around as if it needs no or little explanation, and I can't seem to find a "for dummies" version because it's so specific. Any help is much appreciated :)

Read some of Eve Marder's early papers on the crab gastric mill - she is an excellent explainer. Try this older one first:

Thank you! I appreciate it :) This actually has one of the names, Farzan Nadim, that I'm supposed to be reading, so you're spot on!
