What’s the deal with Reddit not wanting me to screenshot all of the sudden? (self.OutOfTheLoop)
submitted 1d ago by WorthBumblebee5478
I’ve noticed whenever I screenshot on the app now it pops up with this: https://imgur.com/a/F7KLGHB. Why the change?

Friendly reminder that all **top level** comments must:

1. start with "answer: ", including the space after the colon (or "question: " if you have an on-topic follow up question to ask),

2. attempt to answer the question, and

3. be unbiased

Please review Rule 4 and this post before making a top level comment:

Answer: It adds to the engagement numbers. If you post just a picture, then it'll split the audience. If you link to a post, you funnel people to the same place as others and make the website look better than it is.

With Reddit's upcoming Public Sale (i.e. You'll be able to buy and sell Reddit on the Stock Market), they're doing a bunch of bullshit crap to make themselves look good.

Thank you!

It convinced me to always screenshot. It also adds a Reddit watermark if you download or share a pic.

There's a setting you can turn off so it doesn't watermark the downloaded pic.

That’s good to know, but I’m only screenshotting from here in out. They clearly don’t like that.

I think its weird they can tell when you screenshot, like why do they need to know that?

It helps them understand engagement with the end user.
