slows progression of the disease by 30%, which considering the age of many when diagnosed, is significant.

Means, more 'productive' years (and a greater chance to die of something else before significant decline sets in)

EDIT: there are significant risks/side effects including brain swelling and chance of death

It looks like it’s showing promise as a supplemental treatment a la Aricept. There will probably never be a “cure” for Alzheimer’s but the results for this looks pretty good. It slows cognitive decline by 35% at 72 weeks if treatment is started early.
