Siblings in the work place? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AryafacestealerStark
So my sibling might be getting hired by my store and I was wondering about A) If you are allowed to train a sibling, and B) If one of us were to become a shift would we still be able to work together?

My sister is a shift supervisor and I'm a barista and we work the same shifts at the same store at least 3 days a week. It had to be approved by corporate first though and it took almost 2 extra weeks to complete

As far as I know, no. Higher Up™ would prefer family/couples work at separate stores altogether, though I've seen them allow it as long as you two don't work a shift together/see each other at work at all. Maybe the actual rules (which, granted, I was never informed of) are different, but what I got from my past stores is no.

I know at a couple of the stores I've worked at we've had siblings who work shifts at the same time, I just wasn't sure about how it would work with more authoritative positions.
