So I work at a Starbucks in Illinois, and I’ve been here since March 2016. I consider myself a seasoned employee in the food and beverage industry and for the most part Starbucks is quite kind to thier employees. That is one of the main reasons I was incensed to hear that ostensibly, in order to earn a bonus this year, Starbucks will pit their own partners against each other to see who deserves a bonus more. Am I the only one offended? I feel like this entire notion is insulting to every single one of you who sold a unicorn frapp; it’s degrading to tell every of you Starbucks employees who worked a frappy hour that you will now have to compete with your very own coworkers for a bonus. Additionally, I’m not going to waste a single second of my life believing that my store is the only one that needs no help feeling divided in and amongst themselves, and I certainly don’t believe division is a theme starbucks should be using their influence to propagate. I was taught to believe we are first and foremost partner; to wit, we are to treat us all equally. I myself am fine with the notion of competing with another Store, so long as the Store that gets the bonus get it divided equally among the parters. Am I the only one who feels like this? Am I blowing this out of proportion? I don’t want to participate.
This is all our Starbucks.
These are all our stores.
We are all a team.
We are all partners.
