If you are filling out an employment history for a resume you should use the contact info for the store you worked at. It doesn’t do a potential employer any good to call a corporate number that will have no idea who you are.

For references, sure, but as part of the employment history component they just need to confirm employment with HR. The store doesn’t work for that because there generally won’t be anyone on the clock who can verify that I worked there (or worse, some teenager will answer the phone and say that they’ve never heard of me)

For most places if they are going to call they want to talk with someone that would have worked with you. Most places don’t really call around just to confirm employment. Besides they want to know where you worked specifically. It doesn’t make sense to put a corporate phone number or address down when you are listing your employment history. You didn’t work at corporate so you shouldn’t put their contact info.

My understanding is that in most places in America there’s a legal distinction between employment history and references (which is part of why you always have the option to say “don’t contact this employer” and also why so many places demand a certain number of references) where potential employers can’t actually ask questions other than to confirm the info you gave them on your application. Doesn’t mean they don’t ask whatever, but I’d rather control who they were talking to if I have the option.
