The best thing you can do in this situation is speak to a shift or SM about the situation. If it's just flirting then you have every right to stay polite but curt and not give him the response he wants. You're not obligated to feign interest and potentially put yourself in danger for "leading him on". If it escalates you may have to get a higher-up to intervene. We've had to ban several regulars for sexually harassing baristas or exhibiting potentially predatory behavior.

I totally understand this, man. I have this regular that comes in that asks our female staff if they're behaving a lot (which already was a little too weird for me) I asked my ASM about it and we can politely decline questions like that, but make sure you talk to someone about it so they know, a shift lead or manager!

i remember my first store was a kiosk in a mall and was very open to the public eye. there was really nowhere to hide and it always felt like customers were in our area just because of how small it was. i was maybe 2 months old as a barista and i had a customer tell my shift lead i should be getting a "higher pay" because of my looks, and continued to say obscene degrading things in spanish. starbucks is such a good company tho, and doesn't want its partners feeling uncomfortable or like they can't come into work. right after it happened, my shift lead informed my manager, we had mall security escort him out, and i filled out a harassment incident report that went to corporate. talk to your managers or your shift leads!! they will be more than happy to talk to the customer about their actions/words, and will do their part on making sure that person is no longer welcomed as a customer in your store. i'm so sorry you have to deal w/degrading assholes 🤦🏼♀️ hope this helps!

I had two men come in that were my fathers age and because I forgot to grab their short pikes. They decided to comment on my blonde hair and they should have gotten the new blonde espresso if they knew I was going to be “that blonde”. Not sexual harassment but definitely uncalled for. I can’t imagine what it would be life at a bikini barista stand....
