I think it's more of the rare aspect. Like a rare penny that could sell for upwards of $20,000. Or a 1952 Mickey Mantle card for $45,000, or even $70,000 or more if it's the best known example. Coins, stamps, baseball cards, Sbucks mugs, art, when it comes to things people collect, the rarest and scarcest examples can command just astronomical prices. Hope that kind of answered your Q.
