I routinely order - a Venti Americano with an extra shot and a little heavy cream using my personal, slim 20z thermos. I am used to waiting around 10 minutes. The flavor is rich, dark, hot, creamy, steamy and amazing. But every once in awhile, I get a dud drink that tastes like warm coffee with some cold cream. I always know this is what I am going to get when after turning around, unpacking my computer to set up, my name "Deb" is called after about 2 minutes. Sigh...I then take a sip of the shit and politely say, "Oh wow, so sorry, don't mean to complain but this doesn't taste like my normal Americano's that I get everyday, this one is a bit watered down and not very hot, I'll pay for an extra shot." Of course I do not pay for an extra shot, they just remake it; usually the person in charge intervenes and makes it for me, perfectly. Such a hassle to have to deal with this kind of laziness, knowing that the barista just puts regular coffee in my thermos instead of making the drink that I ordered. I worked in the food industry for a long time and I never cheated anyone out of what they ordered and expected. Rant over, I feel better!

More likely they're forgetting your extra shot in an honest mistake. Baristas are human too, just keep doing what you're doing - ask politely for a remake.

I doubt it's shortcutting. It's not annoying enough to short-cut, your barista may just make the mistake!

You were complaining your coffee was watered down when an americano is literally shots and hot water and in your case heavy cream are you foreal?

Honestly I love making americanos they’re so easy and taste great I’m sure the barista could be forgetting a shot because they’re literally not enough of a hassle to even short cut
