6 on the ground from store to my car. Baristas don't put them in drinks, let cust do it themselves. If they can't walk w/o splashing coffee all over themselves, they probably shouldn't be driving! (i.redd.it)

It's crazy that you put them in drinks, we are 100% not allowed to do that in my store.

We put them in the drinks if they have a carrier, but we don't normally do it on single/double drink orders

Due to past lawsuits baristas are required to put them in drinks. Personally I would prefer to avoid the plastic, but company policy is in place for wasting.

The new cold foam lids are amazeballs. Cutting down my straw usage immensely!

They're great for cutting down on straws, but unfortunately they're a thicker plastic and no better for the environment than the straw/lid combo when it comes to decompostion

This is true. If only we could say "f u" to the paper and plastic companies and make everything hemp. It's durable, cheaper, and better for the environment. People have built houses out of it!

Unfortunately my DM requires us to do it. Also makes us put straws in their drinks which I think is disgusting and prob a health code violation.

My DM makes us put the straw with the drink, but not in it (which does sound like a violation). We even go as far as to not have straws out past the bar and even not on the self-serve counter

I always put them with it, even when I hand out in DT I hand the straw and drink together but she said no and to put the straw in it. I get putting a straw with the drink. Cuts down on time for the customer, but IN the drink is gross. I mean, *I* know where my hands have been but the customer doesn’t. If it were me, I’d be so grossed out. And even the people we know don’t get straws she makes us put it in😠
