Looking for ASM/SM development tips 🤔 (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by keyana-veronica
I’m getting ready to transition from SSV to ASM/SM. My manger is kinda flakey and I’ve been dealing with our designated proxy manager for advice the majority of the time.

Anyone wanna share things they look for in a good manager? Or perhaps if you’re a manager or SSV in the same spot as myself, want to share your advice.

A couple thoughts off top:

-curiosity and self driven learning is a must

-open to new ideas and open to learning about how others learn best

-can ‘storytell’ and inspire others to follow company initiatives or store priorities by compelling them through stories that connect their own motives and desires to the bigger picture.

-an understanding that the sales reports as a report card and not a way of life. Operators make things happen each connection at a time on the front lines.

Ahhh, thank you so much. I appreciate you taking the time to give some advice. As a SSV and a barista trainer I pride myself on learning about others and how they operate, so you mentioning that as a strength is a great thing for me. The sales reports are gonna be the hardest for me to live with, because I hate failing and not meeting goals.

Not a problem. I wish you luck. Periodically read a book or listen to a podcast on leadership for brain food as you continue to develop and always remember to put people first.
