First day as a barista this week, not sure what to wear? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by yep_its_just_me
I'm a 19 year old female college student whose wardrobe is generally sporty, and casual. Read the dress code, but uncertain of what I can wear that would show personality, and be functional and still be within the code.

What are your favorite outfit ideas?

I love going to the men's section at the thrift store and getting big button-down shirts, roll up the sleeves and wear them with some black jeggings and boots.

You can’t go wrong with a flannel/chambray shirt.

I stick to khakis or jeans, stripes or plaid for go to patterns, and I usually wear shirts with collars because I think the "no shirts but you don't need a collar" rule is a super gray area in my store. I see lots of the other girls at my store doing jeggings with a cute top. The other thing to think is "does this clash with the apron" that's what the dress code is centered around: how good we all look in the apron.

Honestly I usually go black/dark blue all the time, like dark jeans with a black t shirt (my manager is super relaxed about wearing t shirts). Just stick to a general neutral color scheme and if there are any issues with your outfit people will tell you, but you’re new so it wouldn’t be that big of a deal

I wear black polos from Old Navy, & black pants from wherever, so when they get bleach spots from cleaning chemicals, I color the spots in with Sharpie markers.

Whatever you wear remember that it may get messed up from milk, water and whatnot on the job.

I bought some rugged jeans and black button up shirts for work and they show the least amount of stains
