I had my interview today and she said she will let me know which store in my city my availibility works with tomorrow. Any tips/hacks I should know about to not look dumb on my first day? I have been going to starbucks for years and even have a gold card so I know the company, just not a ton about barista-ing.

They understand that you may not have training Im currently training at a newish store and opening a new one and they totally understand. Remember that were once where you are.

i just needed to tell you that i love your username

also just remember there’s a fuck ton of stuff to learn and that asking questions is always okay
patience and memorization are major keys tbh

you got this and welcome to the team

Also, would burgundy reddish doc martens be allowed? My old food service shoes are too gross to start a new job with and in the trash and my waiting job allows them but I read the dress code so idk.

Hmmmmm I would definitely ask your store manager!! They’re supposed to be white black or brown but maybe you could get away with that color especially since you’ll just be starting

I came into Starbucks with no food service experience so your experience may vary but I’m at my 6 month point and only now do I feel fully confident in my abilities as a barista. There is just so much to remember that it takes a long time. So I guess my tip would be: keep at it, it gets easier.

Just keep in mind it’s not as easy as it looks. Sometimes the job can be overwhelming just don’t let it get to you. And don’t forget to ask questions if you’re unsure about something. A lot of it comes down to patience and self discipline

I've been a line cook, have burns to show for it and have read barista horror stories. I know it's not as easy as it looks 0_0 but thanks for the first-job esque tips.
